How much is the full new State Pension in 2026/27?
The full new State Pension is £241.30 a week for 2026/27. Your personal amount can be lower or, in some cases involving protected payments, higher.
Do I need 35 qualifying years for the full State Pension?
If your National Insurance record started after 5 April 2016, 35 qualifying years are needed for the full new State Pension. Earlier records are subject to transitional rules.
Can I get State Pension with fewer than 10 years?
You normally need at least 10 qualifying years to get any new State Pension, although special rules can apply in some circumstances.
Will voluntary National Insurance always increase my pension?
No. Filling a gap does not always increase State Pension. Check your NI record and official State Pension forecast before paying voluntary contributions.
How often is State Pension paid?
The new State Pension is usually paid every four weeks. The monthly amount shown here is only a monthly equivalent.
Is UK State Pension taxable?
Yes. State Pension counts as taxable income, although tax is not deducted from the State Pension before it is paid.
